About the Group

The teen years can feel like unfamiliar territory where independence grows, communication shifts, and the stakes feel higher.

Parents of Adolescents & Teens groups offer a place to step back and think alongside other parents facing similar questions. Through shared conversation and practical insight, you'll find support navigating this stage.

Groups are open to solo parents, couples, and co-parents caring for children aged 10-19 years. Adult participants attend without their adolescents.

Groups are offered virtually and open to families anywhere in the US, with a limited number of in-person options in the Seattle area.

What You'll Experience

Groups meet weekly for either four or nine weeks—four-week groups go deep on a single theme, while nine-week groups cover a broader range of topics.

You'll join a consistent group of up to 10 families, each session guided by a facilitator with knowledge of adolescent development but shaped by the group's real concerns. It's a place to exchange ideas, reflect, and hear different perspectives, without pressure or judgment.

What You'll Learn

Conversations explore the science behind adolescent development—how the teenage brain works, what drives behavior, and how to support your child's mental health and manage stress alongside them.

Groups also tackle the harder conversations: communication barriers, identity development, gender and sexuality, and how to talk to your teen about peer pressure, relationships, and substance use.

Benefits to Participating

My wife and I were fortunate to form several important friendships through our shared experience with PEPS, and I had a similarly impactful time facilitating a group last summer. So it was a pleasure to make a small contribution to support the ongoing work at PEPS. We also continue to send friends and neighbors your way, when we learn they’re expecting and considering options for finding support and community locally.

FAQs

Why does PEPS have a program fee?

PEPS is a nonprofit organization that does not receive government funding. Program fees make up approximately 30% of our annual budget and help ensure we can maintain high-quality programming and a dedicated staff team. The remaining 70% comes from donations by individuals, foundations, and businesses—which is why your support beyond the program fee matters so much.

What does my PEPS Group program fee cover?

Your program fee directly supports the programs you participate in—including training and support for Group Leaders, program materials, community partnerships, program evaluation, and the administrative costs that keep everything running. Fees are set based on program length, group size, and the level of facilitation and support involved.

How many families can I expect to be in my group?

One parent groups typically consist of 5–10 families. Groups that have a blend of one or two parent families attending typically consist of 4–8 families.

When should I register for a group?

As soon as possible! Groups fill quickly, so register as soon as you can to secure the group of your choice. If groups have low enrollment, they may be cancelled. When families register early, we know that there is interest in the group.

What if I need to change or cancel my registration?

When requests are made 2 weeks prior (or more) to the start of the group, a full refund will be given, minus the non-refundable registration fee which is equal to 10% of the program fee option you selected. No refunds will be given after the start of your PEPS group. Email us with any requests.

If your group is cancelled by PEPS for any reason, we will do our best to find you a different group or refund you in full.
