Why Volunteer With PEPS

Volunteers are at the heart of everything PEPS does, helping thousands of families access support each year. By giving your time, you help create the spaces where parents feel seen, supported, and better equipped to navigate the journey ahead, bringing our mission to life in ways that ripple far beyond any single group or event.

How You Can Volunteer

From sharing your expertise and building awareness to guiding strategy and strengthening our community, there's a meaningful role for everyone. Explore these volunteer opportunities and find the right fit for you.

Serve as an Advisor

Serving as a PEPS Advisor is a meaningful way to share your lived experience, perspective, or subject matter expertise in support of our mission.

Advisors provide thought partnership to staff and may participate in committees or workgroups including Finance, the Benefit Event Strategy Team, and Advocacy.

Advising is flexible by design. You can contribute in the ways that best match your skills and availability. Some Advisors focus on a specific strategic area, while others engage more broadly across organizational priorities.

We actively seek Advisors who reflect the diversity of the families we serve. Black, Indigenous, and People of Color and others with underrepresented identities are strongly and sincerely encouraged to apply.

Become an Ambassador

PEPS Ambassadors help elevate our work in the community by sharing our story, building connections, and expanding awareness of the need for parent support.

Ambassadors are passionate advocates who show up in the ways that feel most natural to them. This can include fostering relationships, sharing their PEPS story, serving as Table Captains for our annual Benefit, or supporting outreach in their own community. No two Ambassadors look exactly alike, and that's by design.

Ready to help spread the word? We'd love to have you.

Join the Board

Board Members provide strategic guidance, fiduciary oversight, and accountability, supporting PEPS staff and ensuring the organization remains true to its mission. Board Members also serve as ambassadors, helping connect PEPS to new partners, supporters, and communities.

The Board prioritizes shared decision-making with staff and regularly reviews its actions through an equity lens. Board Members meet quarterly, and those with subject matter expertise may also advise staff on specific needs and contribute to individual projects.

We're building a diverse, inclusive board that leads with an equity lens and reflects the communities we serve. Black, Indigenous, and People of Color and others with underrepresented identities—including but not limited to gender identity, class, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, age, ability, and background — are strongly and sincerely encouraged to apply.

Spread the Word

75% of parents find out about PEPS through a friend. Sharing your experience, posting a flyer, or simply telling a neighbor about PEPS can make a real difference,  connecting families to support they didn't know they needed.

Here are a few easy and impactful ways to help:

  • Share your story: Tell friends, neighbors, and colleagues about your PEPS experience and encourage them to explore our programs.

  • Share on social media: Write about PEPS on your personal channels, local parent groups, or neighborhood listservs

  • Download, print, and post flyers: Hang them at coffee shops, community centers, childcare providers, schools, and family-friendly businesses. Download Program Flier | Download PAT Flier

  • Hand out brochures: Connect your doctor, midwife, doula, or social services provider with PEPS materials to share with their clients. Request Brochures

Be a Guest Speaker

Share your professional expertise with PEPS parents on the topics that matter most—from early learning and infant safety to relationships, self-care, and child development. Guest Speakers play a meaningful role in helping parents feel more informed and better equipped at every stage of the journey.

PEPS groups are built on peer support and open conversation, so we look for speakers who share their expertise in an interactive, discussion-based way—creating space for questions, shared experiences, and real dialogue rather than a formal lecture.

Once approved, you'll be added to our Guest Speaker list and Group Leaders may invite you to their group with several weeks advance notice.

Become a Group Leader

Leading a PEPS Group is our highest-need, highest-impact volunteer opportunity. You don't need to be an expert, just a compassionate communicator who believes in the power of parents supporting parents. It's a meaningful commitment and one of the most rewarding ways to give back.

What PEPS Volunteers Have to Say

I thought I was giving back to PEPS because I love my own PEPS Group that I am a member of, but I grew so much as a person by being a Group Leader. The experience was far richer and more rewarding than I imagined.

The PEPS curriculum makes it easy and low-stress. I just feel really set up for success. The parents are full of insight and good energy. It's been fun to see the parents connecting and interesting to see how I've grown and changed as a leader since my first stint back in 2018.

In 2018, I was a parent in one of NW Seattle's Newborn groups, which I attended with my first baby. It was one of the most challenging, if not the single most challenging phase of my life and I am certain that my PEPS group was a key player in keeping me going. Today I am still in touch with all of the moms/kids/families from my Newborn group and it has been a gift to walk through these years of parenthood alongside these women who were there with me when we were just starting out.
