Advocacy

Advocacy is a natural extension of the PEPS mission to support and connect parents. While we are not an advocacy-first organization, we recognize the responsibility to use our collective voice to support families.

PEPS shows up for families by advocating for policies that provide stability across our state, helping ensure all parents have the support they need to thrive.

Advocacy - Why we Advocate

Why PEPS Advocates

PEPS hasn’t always engaged in advocacy. But as our commitment to equity deepened, we recognized that supporting parents also means addressing the systems that shape their experiences.

Grounded in our values, we choose to use the strength of our community to advocate for a more equitable society, one that better supports all parents and families.

What We Do to Advocate

PEPS mobilizes our community to contact legislators, voice support for key bills, and submit testimony, while collaborating with other organizations to promote equity-focused policy.

Activate the PEPS Community

We send action alerts, petitions, and opportunities to contact legislators to our community.

Amplify Partner Organizations Efforts

We amplify the work of other organizations, focusing on community-informed policy proposals to achieve racial equity and support early childhood development.

Bring Parent Voices to the Table

Our staff and community members provide written or in-person testimony to committees. We support parents in sharing personal stories to influence policymakers.

Speak Directly to Legislators

We attend legislative reviews and meet with state representatives and senators to discuss the needs of families and young children.

Advocacy in Action

I’m excited by the idea of thousands of PEPS families banding together to make daily life easier for all families in our state. PEPS families know the power of gathering in community, and we know that caregivers and children deserve more support. Structural change is an important piece of the puzzle.

PEPS is collaboratively amplifying the work of groups who have subject matter expertise and have developed community-informed policy proposals that will lead to racial equity. PEPS offers a large community of parents who can quickly take action in support of these efforts.
