About the Group

The first months with a baby can feel like a blur—beautiful, exhausting, and full of questions. This group offers a steady place to land each week, where you can talk through what’s happening in real time. Alongside other new parents, you’ll find reassurance, perspective, and connection.

Groups are open to parents with babies aged 2-20 weeks old at the start of the group. Some groups are for one parent to attend solo with their newborn, and other groups are for two parents to attend together with their newborn.

Groups meet online or in person at community sites or in homes. For in-person site-based groups, families meet at the same location each week. For in-home groups, families rotate hosting duties.

What You'll Experience

Over 12 weeks, you’ll meet with the same group of parents and babies, creating a rhythm and familiarity that builds over time.

Sessions are structured enough to guide conversation, but flexible enough to meet the moment—whether that means talking, listening, or simply being there with your baby among others doing the same.

What You'll Learn

Conversations follow the realities of early parenthood as they unfold—feeding, sleep, soothing, and development, alongside emotional adjustment and identity shifts.

You’ll also talk about relationships, mental health, and the day-to-day experience of caring for a newborn, with space to ask questions and hear how others are navigating it.

Benefits to Participating

In 2018, I was a parent in one of NW Seattle's Newborn groups, which I attended with my first baby. It was one of the most challenging, if not the single most challenging phase of my life and I am certain that my PEPS group was a key player in keeping me going.

Today I am still in touch with all of the moms/kids/families from my Newborn group and it has been a gift to walk through these years of parenthood alongside these women who were there with me when we were just starting out.

FAQs

Why does PEPS have a program fee?

PEPS is a nonprofit organization that does not receive government funding. Program fees make up approximately 30% of our annual budget and help ensure we can maintain high-quality programming and a dedicated staff team. The remaining 70% comes from donations by individuals, foundations, and businesses—which is why your support beyond the program fee matters so much.

What does my PEPS Group program fee cover?

Your program fee directly supports the programs you participate in—including training and support for Group Leaders, program materials, community partnerships, program evaluation, and the administrative costs that keep everything running. Fees are set based on program length, group size, and the level of facilitation and support involved.

How many families can I expect to be in my group?

One parent groups typically consist of 5–10 families. Groups that have a blend of one or two parent families attending typically consist of 4–8 families.

When should I register for a group?

As soon as possible! Groups fill quickly, so register as soon as you can to secure the group of your choice. If groups have low enrollment, they may be cancelled. When families register early, we know that there is interest in the group.

What if I need to change or cancel my registration?

When requests are made 2 weeks prior (or more) to the start of the group, a full refund will be given, minus the non-refundable registration fee which is equal to 10% of the program fee option you selected. No refunds will be given after the start of your PEPS group. Email us with any requests.

If your group is cancelled by PEPS for any reason, we will do our best to find you a different group or refund you in full.
